A luxury car can be defined as a high-end vehicle distinguished by its refined design, high-quality materials, and exceptional performance. Designed to offer a high level of safety and comfort, it also provides an unparalleled driving experience thanks to cutting-edge technologies and features. Luxury cars are also synonymous with exclusivity, often produced in limited quantities, and can represent a symbol of social status and prestige for their owners.
Here is our ranking of the best luxury car brands:
1/ Rolls Royce
It’s the emblem of English luxury: Rolls Royce.. Instantly recognizable, Rolls Royce is known worldwide thanks to its small mascot statuette located on the hood of each of its models, the “spirit of Ecstasy” (the spirit of ecstasy, quite a program!). Cars bearing the RR badge are legendary. Among them, we can cite the Rolls Royce Phantom series, or the Silver Ghost (reputed to be the most expensive car in the world). Its more contemporary models attract a wealthy and demanding clientele. Their names? Ghost, Wraith, Phantom 8, and more recently, Cullinan, named after the largest rough diamond ever discovered in the world. The budget for this exceptional car is staggering: expect to pay $400,000!
2/ Bentley
In the top 10 most luxurious car brands, the British still hold the top spot with Bentley. One of the most expensive brands in the world, associated with the worlds of cinema, rock stars, and royalty. To create a car “that is beautiful and fast and the best in its class.” This was the wish of Walter Owen Bentley, the founder of the eponymous brand in 1919. A founding principle that remains relevant a decade later. Its most famous models? The Mark and the Continental. As an aside, it’s worth noting that Bentley seduced Ian Fleming, the author of the James Bond saga. In several books, secret agent 007 drives an R-type Continental Fastback coupe with a luxurious interior. But Bentley has also made a name for itself closer to home: the British luxury brand has won several titles by participating in motor races, including the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans.
3/ Ferrari
It’s impossible to talk about luxury vehicles without mentioning Ferrari! The very famous Italian brand, often associated with the flamboyant red color, is one of the most famous in the world. Equally at home on the road and on the track, Ferrari would go on to make its mark on the history of motor racing, particularly Formula 1, with its Scuderia team. Its cars were driven by the Italian Alberto Ascari, the German Michael Schumacher, and the Austrian Niki Lauda. Ferrari’s most iconic models are the Ferrari 488 Pista, the 250 GTO, the Berlinetta, the 550 Maranello, the F40, the Ferrari Portofino, and, more recently, the LaFerrari (also called the “F70” or “F150”). This model was the brand’s very first to be equipped with hybrid technology. A large portion of these cars are handcrafted, which explains the quality of the cars and the prices that go with them!
4/ Lamborghini
Among the luxury car manufacturers is another Italian brand: Lamborghini. However, its founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini, originally focused on a different type of vehicle, since the brand manufactured… tractors! As business quickly flourished, the boss decided to indulge a burning passion: building luxury cars as sporty as those of the already famous Ferrari and Maserati. While it may not necessarily surpass these two competitors, the Lamborghini brand still managed to produce the Lamborghini Countach, marketed in 1974 and 1990. This model would later give way to even more powerful cars offering an extraordinary driving experience: the MurciĆ©lago, the Aventador, the Gallardo, and, more recently, the Veneno Roadster.
5/ Aston Martin
When it comes to the most luxurious car brands, the English still hold their own. Elegant design, exceptional interior space, exceptional driving experience, and extreme performance: these are the superlatives that the British brand Aston Martin deserves. A car brand that was founded in 1913, under the leadership of Robert Bamford and Lionel Martin. But it was in 1947 that Aston Martin truly entered the luxury sports car sector. That year, a certain David Brown bought the brand and created the famous DB series. One of the most famous models was the DB5: it became James Bond’s official car in 1963.
7/ Porsche
Synonymous with elegance and power, it was founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, a talented engineer, industrialist, engine designer, and manufacturer. The man was responsible for high-performance sports cars, packed with technology and a refined design that offered an exhilarating driving experience. 718 Cayman, not to mention the Porsche Panamera. More recently, the German manufacturer entered the electric car segment with its Taycan model. A sports car with a futuristic design and breathtaking performance.
